Low Noise Measurement of Photocurrent for Continuous Glucose Monitoring - Low Noise Measurement System Enables Continuous Monitoring of Glucose in Subcutaneous Interstitial Fluid

چکیده
The purpose of this work is mainly to manufacture several anatomical models in a polymeric material – polydimensiloxane (PDMS) to study the blood flow through a carotid artery bifurcation. Over the last few decades, research has been shown that the geometry of the carotid artery is closely related to the development of serious cardiovascular diseases. Hence, there is a considerable interest in the development of in vitro experimental techniques able to obtain accurate measurements of the blood flow behavior through a realistic carotid artery. In this study we decide to apply rapid prototyping (RP) technologies combined with a PDMS casting technique in order to fabricate an anatomically realistic model of a human carotid to investigate, in a near future, the effect of the geometry on the local hemodynamics and consequently improve the understanding of the origin and development of these pathologies. Based on a human carotid computerized tomography (TC) it has been developed a 3D model through the application of two rapid prototyping techniques – Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Tridimensional Printing (TDP). By combining the rapid prototyping techniques with a PDMS casting technique it was possible at the end to obtain an anatomically transparent model of a human carotid artery made by an elastomeric material, i.e. PDMS. Hence, we believe that this combination is a promising technique to perform in vitro blood studies through anatomically realistic models, such as a carotid artery.

Low noise measurement of photocurrent in IR photodiodes for continuous glucose monitoring
We have developed a data acquisition unit (DAU) for continuous, low noise measurement of glucose concentration in subcutaneous interstitial fluid (ISF). The system is comprised of a specialized glucose sensor, analog circuitry for signal conditioning, and delta-sigma ( ) analog to digital converters (ADCs). The glucose sensor has two infrared (IR) LEDs designed to emit light in the 2.2 to 2.4 m...
متن کاملInterstitial fluid glucose time-lag correction for real-time continuous glucose monitoring
Time lag between subcutaneous interstitial fluid and plasma glucose decreases the accuracy of realtime continuous glucose monitors. However, inverse filters can be designed to correct time lag and attenuate noise enabling the blood–glucose profile to be reconstructed in real time from continuous measurements of the interstitial-fluid glucose. We designed and tested a Wiener filter using a set o...

This paper presented a wearable microsystem including a microfluidic chip with an integrated threeelectrode electrochemical sensor for continuous glucose monitoring in subcutaneous interstitial fluid (ISF). The microfluidic chip fabricated by PDMS was used to transdermally extract ISF. The working electrode of the electrochemical sensor was modified by graphene and gold nanoparticles to improve...
متن کاملEditorial: symposium on algorithms for continuous glucose monitoring and control.
1 S YSTEMS AND CONTROL THEORY is the basis for algorithms embedded in many of the products (both high and low " tech ") that we use in our daily lives. While consumers appreciate the relative compactness of CD and DVD players and microdrives, for example, and value the manufacturing technology involved in minia-turization, they probably do not think much about the mathematical algorithms that e...
متن کاملOverview of a novel sensor for continuous glucose monitoring.
The core element of a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system is the glucose sensor, which should enable reliable CGM readings in the interstitial fluid in subcutaneous tissue for a period of several days. The aim of this article is to describe the layout and constituents of a novel glucose sensor and the rationale behind the measures that were used to optimize its performance. In order to a...
